Since our founding as a rugged railroad and logging town in the late 1800s, Skykomish has defined itself by its resilience, close connections, and stunning natural beauty. For over a century, our school has stood as an anchor for this town. We don't just exist within this mountain community—our students actively learn from it, serve it, and grow to lead it.
From hosting community events and school activities open to the community, the Skykomish School campus belongs to all of us. We are proud to partner with local organizations, emergency services, and civic groups to ensure our facilities continue to serve our valley residents year-round.
We work hand-in-hand with the Town of Skykomish, Skykomish Fire District 50, and King County Local Services to ensure a safe, interconnected environment for our students both inside and outside the classroom gates.
Our unique Learning Expeditions program relies on deep partnerships with the U.S. Forest Service, local environmental scientists, and mountain outdoor organizations to turn our wilderness backyard into an active classroom.
Through collaboration with the Skykomish Historical Society, our students engage in local preservation projects, learning to value and catalog the logging, railroad, and cultural history of our valley.
Advance Planning: Applications for building, gym, or field use generally must be submitted well in advance (typically 10 to 14 business days before the event) to allow time for processing, calendar coordination, and staff scheduling.
Priority Ranking: District and school-related activities always maintain first priority. Community groups are scheduled based on remaining availability, often on a seasonal calendar.
Point of Contact: Inquiries and application submittals are handled directly by the District Office (schooloffice@skykomish.wednet.edu). The Superintendent or their designee has final authority on facility approvals.
Prohibited Items: To maintain a safe environment, alcohol, tobacco products, vaping, firearms/weapons, and fires or fireworks of any kind are strictly prohibited on all school property.
Liability: Groups or individuals using school facilities agree to protect and indemnify for costs, legal, and other expenses the District, its officers, directors, and agents from all claims, liabilities, or suits related to, or arising from acts or omissions of such groups or individuals in connection with the use of any such school facilities.
Clean-Up: Users are responsible for leaving the facilities in the condition they found them. This includes proper disposal of trash and ensuring no damage is done to the property.
Equipment Use: District-owned educational or athletic equipment is typically reserved strictly for official school use unless explicit permission is granted in the rental agreement.
Rental Fees: Please contact the District Office for the current Fee Schedule. Fees are charged based on for profit status of groups. Non-profit and local community organizations receive preferential rates, while for profit or private, non-local community users pay higher rates.
Personnel Charges: Additional fees apply if an event requires custodial overtime (especially on weekends), security, or specialized kitchen staff.
